  1. Firstly, heat ghee in a pan.

  2. Add the makhana and cashews.

  3. Now a low heat, roast the makhana and cashews in ghee till

    The makhana become crunchy.

  4. The cashew will also golden stir often while roasting them.

  5. The remove them in a plate and keep aside. However

    Keep the cashews separate from the makhana

    As well be making powder of the roasted makhana.

  6. Heat milk in a sauce pan or a thick bottomed pan on

    Medium heat.

  7. Stir at intervals so that the milk does

    Not scorch from bottom.

  8. Whilst the milk is getting heated add the roasted

    Makhana. And add sugar, saffron and mix very well.

  9. Simmer till the makhana soften and the milk thickens

    A bit. About 10 minutes on a low to medium heat.

  10. Lastly add the fry cashews and raisin.

  11. Serve makhana kheer hot and warm or cold. And

    Garnish pistachio.
